Our rebuilds begin with 3 basic steps:

This approach assures a like-new component upon its return to you. Years of experience allow us to provide a level of attention to detail and integrity that a local service shop would have trouble providing at all, much less for a reasonable price.

We have two levels of rebuilds that take your 30 year old equipment and breathe new life into it.  By installing sonically superior parts: high-tech capacitors, low noise resistors, transistors, connectors, etc., we bring the components inline with current quality audio construction practices.

Restoration Rebuild

The Restoration Rebuild focuses first on the functional aspects and reliability of your component by addressing needed repairs and long-term reliability issues.  From there it resolves the major sonic bottlenecks such as aged electrolytic and dry slug tantalum capacitors in the signal path, and is a cost/performance based upgrade of the signal path’s passive components.  It extends the work into the power supplies, replacing the main electrolytic storage capacitors with higher capacity, 105°C rated caps. We install new main input and clean or replace internal power and signal path connectors as warranted. This work provides the greatest sonic improvement for your money and returns the component to great shape electrically and sonically.       More

Reference Rebuild

Our Reference Rebuild is our best work! We rebuild your gear as if it were our own.  The amp or preamp is completely disassembled and rebuilt as new.  I consider this work to be as much an art form as engineering driven: it improves the subtle details using techniques that I and others have proven over the years to be solid audible improvements and applies them to your component. We return to you a fine-tuned piece of music reproduction equipment - a work of audio art!  It is not voiced or tuned to sound one way or another; instead it is executed to minimize all external influences and refine all internal effects to allow the electronics to neutrally drop into the background and allow the equipment to sonically perform as the outstanding classic design that it is. This work compares favorably to today’s finer gear.  It is quite cost effective: your original unit supplies the expensive parts; I supply the time, expertise and attention to detail - and the art of reproducing music!          More
