The Reference Rebuild is an extension of the refinements started in the Restoration Rebuild. Without going into another laundry list of details, the work is best seen as extreme attention to detail. All important aspects of the execution are addressed, your component is completely dismantled, boards stripped, every mechanical part is cleaned and restored as needed and then it is reassembled using the best parts for each application. We retain the good parts of the original design and any aspect that relates to the GAS sonic signature. The internal wiring and connections are improved or replaced as possible, input wiring to a coax type. The preamp switching and controls are all disassembled, cleaned and the contacts treated for long-term sonic reliability. All signal connectors are replaced or serviced.

Sonic Improvements include:
A very clear sense of articulation on vocals, staying uncluttered sounding as the music becomes more complex. Subtle, fragile supporting instruments maintain there individuality in the presence of more dominating parts of the music, the bottom end is fast with a good sense of bloom without getting out of control. Far from the tight sterile quality other brands of solid state amps and preamps can exhibit.
There is a strong improvement in the overall purity of the sound. With a solid reduction in the low level grain that you hear on vocals and strings. the low level detail retrieval is allot better and it's not even a matter of hearing more stuff it's more that what is there tends to decay accurately and subtle resonance’s in the instruments or rooms are more intact. There is more of a sense of bloom or body that is able to get through making the overall presentation more like real music

Our approach to rebuilding your amplifier/preamplifier maintains the original intent of their design and the signature GAS sound. With your GAS component providing the building blocks for creating a new audio component for a small fraction of what it costs to produce a new component today.
