We provide essentially two levels of rebuild work on the GAS gear: The Basic Rebuild focuses on putting the amp or preamp in proper working and sonic condition, fixing any problems and cleaning up the components that affect its performance due to age. We resolve known reliability problems and replace the 30 year old electrolytic capacitors, for example. This work stops short of major tear-downs to overhaul controls and switches, amplifier power supply caps. connector replacements (except where needed). It's geared toward the person who may have inherited a GAS piece or bought one on E-bay and wants to get it cleaned up a bit for proper operation. The Basic Rebuild runs between $250. and $400. depending on the model and repair parts if needed. The Full Rebuild focuses on making the amp functionally new again and comparable to currently available equipment. This work is more extensive, with the main sources of age being addressed. All electrolytic capacitors and carbon film resistors are replaced, as are calibration trim pots. Input transistors are replaced with newer low noise devices, power supply filter cans, output connectors on the amps, selected RCA connectors on the preamps are replaced. The work is quite thorough. The Full runs between $550. and $800, also depending on the model, the number and quality of the connectors to be replaced, repairs needed and the general condition that it's in (between clean and a basket case due to previous attempted repairs). Repairs only costs are covered under Repairs page. Hopefully this basic overview will help you decide if you would like to have the equipment rebuilt and too what extent if you do. We can proceed from there with an estimate and discuss your particular piece and your goals for it. E-mail Mike@GasAudio.net
